Certificates issued

CP44 — mobile catering (LPG)

The gas safety record event organisers, councils and insurers usually ask for on food trucks, trailers and stalls using bottled LPG. Covers the installation, appliances, pipework, regulators, hoses and ventilation at the time of inspection. Typically renewed every 12 months.

CP42 — commercial catering

The commercial catering gas safety certificate for fixed kitchens and commercial catering appliances. Used for restaurants, takeaways and other premises that need a current commercial catering gas record.

You get a clear written record of what was checked. If something is unsafe or needs work, that is explained before any extra work is agreed.

Who this is for

  • Food trucks, catering vans and trailers

  • Festival stands, street-food units and outdoor LPG setups

  • Commercial kitchens — restaurants, takeaways, pubs, care homes and hotels

  • New installations, annual safety checks and certification before trading or an event

If the appliance runs on natural gas or LPG and is used for catering, it can be inspected and certificated.

Areas covered

Exeter, Bath, Bristol, London, and all areas between.
Including Somerset, the wider South West and the M4 / M5 corridor.

Typical towns and cities include Bridgwater, Taunton, Yeovil, Weston-super-Mare, Bristol, Bath, Exeter and Greater London.

If your business is elsewhere in that belt, ask — travel is quoted before the visit.

Why book an on-site visit

The food truck stays where it is stored or traded. No need to tow it to a workshop.

Inspections are arranged around your diary — yard, kitchen, depot or event setup where access is safe and practical.

Both natural gas and LPG work is carried out. Mobile catering and commercial kitchen work is the focus of the business, not an add-on to domestic boiler servicing.

What the visit includes

  1. Confirm the unit or kitchen, appliances and fuel (LPG or natural gas).

  2. Inspect appliances, pipework, regulators, hoses, isolation and ventilation as required for the certificate.

  3. Tightness / leak checks using appropriate methods.

  4. Issue CP44 and/or CP42 documentation when the installation is satisfactory.

  5. Advise on any defects, unsafe situations or parts needed before a certificate can be issued.

Bring (or have ready): previous certificate if you have one, appliance list, and access to cylinder lockers or plant areas.

Gas Safe — what to check

Only a Gas Safe registered engineer with the correct commercial catering and, for trucks and stalls, mobile catering LPG competencies should sign this work.

On the day, you can check the engineer’s Gas Safe ID card and confirm the business on gassaferegister.co.uk or 0800 408 5500.
